Anit-Virus (among other things)

Today I will be addressing the all important issue of Virus Protection. Many of you in the geek populace know the dangers that are presented by viruses, worms, spyware, adware, and other malicious programs. Unfortunately, most people do not. In fact it is said that 1 in 5 people do not have anti-virus programs or even know of their seriousness of protecting their beloved computer systems (this statistic is based of the fact that 78.6% of all statistics are made up on the spot). So being the great geek that I am, I will share some of my vast knowledge to you unknowing peoples. First if you don't have an anti-virus program then get one! The last thing you need is for your computer to crash and you not know why. If you don't want to spend money getting one then this is the best free one in my opinion, AVG 8.0 free (click the one on the left that says "free version", also the file is about 60MB so if you have slow Internet then its going to take awhile), the free version still has most of what the real one does except it doesn't protect against all types of spyware and adware and cant heal infected files, but it can still detect fine and it puts infected files in a "Virus Vault" which basically isolates the file so it cant spread. Now, if you are willing to shell out some bucks to completely protect your system (recommended for geeks with excellent systems) then I would suggest a few programs... I personally use Kaspersky, but there are several other good ones like Bit Defender, NOD32, and AVG 8.0, but whatever you do do not get Norton! Anyways any of these anti-virus programs I suggested will protect your computer fine, but be warned some are quite advanced such as Bit Defender and Kaspersky but if you need a simple one with the availability of advanced options get AVG. Also with the non-free versions you get protection from Adware and Spyware so its like health benefits only, for your computer.
